Position Summary
The Division Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of Novatae Risk Group and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting processes and records.
This role leads the accounting function and is responsible for managing financial close processes, internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The Division Controller works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other senior leaders to support financial planning, operational decision-making, and strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical accounting leader with experience managing accounting teams in a fast-paced environment and supporting financial operations within complex or multi-entity organizations.

Primary Responsibilities
Accounting Oversight
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Lead and manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
- Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting packages.
- Maintain accounting documentation and reporting standards across the organization.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audit processes, including audit preparation and coordination with auditors.
- Monitor accounting procedures to ensure proper risk management and financial governance.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, including mentoring staff and providing performance feedback.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and workflows within the accounting function.
- Support hiring, training, and professional development of accounting personnel.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes and financial workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and other departments to streamline financial processes.
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of financial systems and reporting tools.
- Support integration efforts related to acquisitions or organizational changes.
- Partner with the CFO to provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Provide leadership with accounting and performance metrics.
- Support organizational initiatives that impact the accounting processes.
- Coordinate with corporate accounting on new initiatives, new policies, and financial information
Position Specific Skills/Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Prior experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, or controllership roles.
- Experience managing accounting teams and financial close processes.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or professional services environments preferred.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
